Long ago the equine were introduced to the U.S. Some horses escaped and founded a herd in the Midwest before any colonies were about or states were claimed. These escapes bred and made the mustang herd that lives there. The live off of the Midwestern grasses. WHen you travel acrost those lonely, baren plains, you will see the well rounded hoof prints found in the tan sod explaining that the herd had been there a few hours before. If you are really lucky you might catch a small glimpse of the whole herd off in the distance. You will see several mares and a few bachelor stallions. But watching over the herd from afare stands a mighty, ebony lead stallion. He guides and watches over his large herd with presige and wisdom showing upon his features.
Un fortunatly, he likes to get a few of his mares from the neighboring ranch. The only ranch within hundreds of miles. Perhaps almost thousands. The owner has been trying to catch him for years now, but she has tried, and never succeed. He is too cunnign to be caught.
This ranch stands alone on the palins except for a very small town that is about a hundred miles away from the ranch. It takes a long time to get there, and it will require a coulple days to get there and back.
All horses are owned by Kahlan Amnell, the ranch owner. Yes she owns them all, but she will not stop you from ahving relationships with the tame horses. You are not allowed to join tame horses unless they belong to Kahlan. They only know the basics to riding and cutting. There is no extras such as barrel racing, or english equitation. This is way back when.... remember?
